Alibaug, a laidback town located on the Konkan coastline of Maharashtra state is a famous weekend getaway for Mumbai and Pune residents. The destination is famous for beautiful beaches in and around the town. A perfect place for vacation with family and friends, the place will do perfect justice to your wandering if you’re a sand and sea admirer.

Almost 350 years old, the coastline here has seen many tourists visiting it for years now and still manages to charm everyone by its beauty. Every beach has its own specialty but here are top three you should definitely visit when time is running ahead of you.

  1. Nagaon Beach

As the sun rose in the opposite direction to the sea, it was surely one of the most beautiful sun rises I have ever seen. I was at the beach at 7 am in the month of March. The beach is serene, beautiful and simply bliss to the eye. It also acts as the central place surrounding other beaches like Murud, Kashid, Akshi, Kihim and Mandwa.
Nagaon is about 7 kms ahead of Alibaug and is worth the travel. The beach is neat, pretty and well maintained. Water sports like jet ski and banana ride are also conducted here and are safe to ride due to the flat surface. Moreover, I was lucky to see the energetic bullock cart race there that morning.
The cleanliness, respite from everyday hustle bustle and vibe of the beach makes it on the top of the list.

  1. Varsoli Beach

Located at a distance of about 3 kms from the main Alibaug bus depot, Varsoli is one of the least visited beaches in Alibaug that makes it less crowded in comparison to other beaches. The beach is a naval base of the Indian army. It has sparkling white sand and beautiful water of the Arabian sea.
The casuarina, palm and suru trees along the shore look like a picture taken out of a storybook. Every part of the land and water are picture perfect adding to its natural beauty. Capturing the mesmerizing sunset, I bid the day a perfect goodbye.
The eatery options, the beauty of casuarina trees and uncluttered sand makes this beach second must see on the list.

  1. Alibaug Beach

Unlike the first two beaches, Alibaug beach is a crowded one. It is the most popular beach of Alibaug and offers a perfect sight with Kulaba fort in the sea. A short boat ride takes you to the fort from the sea shore.
The beach gives the typical local feel of the town and should be visited for playful water activities like paragliding, parasailing, jet ski etc. You can walk on the smooth sand or take a horse ride. You may also spot camels here. The beachfront has all sorts of eateries like bhel puri, ice cream, coconut water etc.
After visiting two calm and peaceful beaches, Alibaug beach can be visited to get the feel of local culture and people surrounding yourself with fresh air, local food,  Cypress and Coconut trees.
